Lake Management and Restoration Handbook.
PALMS has recently devleoped a lake and watershed management restoration handbook. The preparation of this handbook was funded by PA Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) through its Growing Greener Grant Program. This is the first lake handbook that has been specifically written to manage and restore ponds, lakes and reservoirs in the State of Pennsylvania. The handbook was completed in November 2004 and is available on-line at our Publications webpage.

PALMS Public Education & Outreach Initiative Grant.
PALMS received a Growing Greener Grant from PA DEP to increase our efforts in providing public education and public outreach. Under this grant, PALMS received funding to purchase lake monitoring equipment and several exhibits to be displayed at our conferences and various workshops. Also, funding was used to develop and maintain the PALMS website, assist in sponsoring the PALMS Annual Conferences and co-sponsoring other lake-related workshops. This grant was completed on January 31, 2004.

The Identification of PA Lakes Grant.
PALMS received a Section 319 (Nonpoint Source Program) Grant to develop a comprehensive statewide directory of lakes and reservoirs. This was accomplished by merging existing state and federal databases, thereby creating a new comprehensive database (directory) using Microsoft Access software. The newly developed statewide directory contains information about lake and reservoir characteristics, ownership and management practices. The final product of this grant was a final report containing the new comprehensive statewide lake and reservoir directory as appendices. PALMS provided this report and electronic copies of this directory in a compact disk format to PA DEP in June 2000.
