Executive Committee
The Executive Committee consists of President, President Elect, Secretary, Treasurer, and Past President. This committee exercises all authority of the Board of Directors in the management of PALMS affairs during intervals between the meetings of the Board of Directors.
By-Laws and Policy Committee
The mission of this committee is to review the By-laws and organize ideas and propose changes and present them to the Board of Directors. If approved by the Board, the committee prepares a draft of proposed changes to the By-laws that are then presented to the membership. The chair is responsible for providing communication to the membership with regard to any proposed By-law changes. The chair should prepare and deliver a presentation to the membership on the proposed changes at the annual conference. If the membership approves changes to the By-laws, the committee presents the change(s) to the PALMS membership.
Nominations Committee
PALMS needs active, dedicated leaders to grow and function effectively. Identifying these people and encouraging them to seek positions of leadership are the primary functions of the Nominations Committee.
Membership Committee
The membership committee is responsible for maintaining and increasing PALMS membership and exposure for the betterment of maintaining and improving our lakes though knowledge.
Conference Committee
The conference committee is responsible for all items related to the annual conference. This includes identifying a conference location, contracting with a hotel for the conference, developing a conference theme and appropriate program to address lake and water quality related issues of that time, completing event registration, and identifying and securing exhibitors and conference sponsors. Other activities which occur in concert with the conference include: annual business meeting, board of directors and officer election, award voting and presentation, and dispersal of educational materials.
Publications Committee
The Publications Committee is responsible for maintaining the quality of all PALMS publications. This includes Whats Wet newsletter, PALMS Fact Sheets, website, and any other publications of the Society.
